Madame Tussauds

マダム・タッソーへ行きました。たくさんの有名人たち（の人形）と写真を撮ることができました。写真を撮る時にポーズや表情を決めますが、そうすることは演劇と似ていると思いました。時間・空間の流れがある舞台上での演技か、それらがない写真の中での演技かという違いこそあるものの、ポーズや表情を決めるという点は同じだからです。シェイクスピアと撮る時には敬意を込めて、歴代のジェームズ・ボンドと撮る時には格好良く、ロイヤルファミリーと撮る時には優雅に…と写りたかったのですが、なんだか照れてしまい、後で写真を見返したら全部同じ表情をしていました。せっかく行くなら思い切り演技をすれば良かったです。

I visited Madame Tussauds in London. I took photos with many famous figures. When we take photos with them, we make a pose and a facial expression, which I think is similar to acting on a stage. Although there is a difference whether acting on a stage with movement and lines or acting in photos without them, both of them are something about acting. I tried to express homage when I took a photo with Shakespeare, tried to be stylish when with figures of James Bond, and tried to be elegant when with Queen Elizabeth II. However, I found my facial expressions were same in each photo. If I visit Madame Tussauds again, I will act drastically.

天保十二年のシェイクスピア＠日生劇場

2020年2月9日、日生劇場にて音楽劇『天保十二年のシェイクスピア』を観劇。 最初の曲、最初の歌詞の「もしもシェイクスピアがいなかったら文学博士になり損ねた英文学者がずいぶん出ただろう」から心を持っていかれました。 シェイクスピアの全戯曲が散りばめられた作品です。特定の登場人物や場面を思わせる部分から、ふわっとした「シェイクスピアあるある」まで、どこを取っても面白いと思える絵巻物的な作品でした。シェイクスピア作品は「二面性」や「曖昧さ」がキーワードだと、知っているつもりではいましたが、作者・井上ひさしの目を通して今回改めて気付かされました。 もしも私が先生だったら、学生に見せたいな、なんて生意気なことを帰り道に考えてしまいました。

Design Museum

ロンドンにあるデザイン・ミュージアムへ行ってきました。4年前にロンドンを訪れた時、ここのお土産屋さんだけ立ち寄る時間があり、それだけでもカラフルで惹かれると思っていたので、今回ミュージアムの中も見ることが出来て良かったです。 常設展示では、「デザイナー」「ユーザー」「メーカー」と3つの視点から色々なものが展示されていました。アートとしてのデザインだけでなく、広い意味で、人が何をどのようにつくり、どのように使ってきたのかをたどる展示でした。近代以降の人々の生活をたどる展示と言えるかもしれません。 I visited the Design Museum in London. Its permanent exhibition focuses on three perspectives: designer, user, and maker. It's not only about artistic designs but also about "what people made?" "how people have used them?" "what made lives more convenient?" and so on. Then, I thought the exhibition is about people's lives after Industrial Revolution.
