2022年5月13日、Shakespeare InstituteにてMuch Ado About Nothingを観劇（2時間45分、休憩込み）。私の通う学校の学生による上演でした。
会場に入ってまず驚いたのは、客席が、レストランの座席のようにテーブルとともに配置されていたこと。下の画像で雰囲気が伝わればと思います。まるでレオナート邸の宴に呼ばれたお客さんになった気持ちで、登場人物たちの物語を鑑賞することができました。役者たちはステージだけでなく、客席の間も使って演技をしていました。特にベネディックとビアトリスをだます場面では、二人とも観客に紛れて隠れたりしていたので、演技のエリアと客席の使い方が上手だと思いました。
同じ学校に通う学生による上演、刺激を受けました！
On 13 May 2022, I saw and heard Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare at Shakespeare Institute. It was performed by students of the school I attend.
The most impressive thing for me was that audiences' seats were set with tables as if the venue was a restaurant. I felt like I was a guest who was invited to the banquet by Leonato while seeing the characters' story from such a seat. Actors acted in the whole area of the hall, not only on the stage. Especially in act 2 scene 3 and act 3 scene 1, Benedick and Beatrice pretended to be an audience to hide. I liked their way of using the space.
Since it was a performance by my classmates and friends, I was encouraged and motivated!
