2024年5月18日、PARCO劇場にて『ハムレットQ1』を観劇（2時間55分、休憩込み）。Q1版の『ハムレット』ということで、3時間以内に収まるコンパクトな上演でした。以下、ネタバレ注意です。
吉田羊さん演じるハムレットが良かったです。以前、男装する女性の役を演じたのを見たことがあり、男役も似合いそうだと思っていたので、今回見ることができて嬉しかったです。
ハムレットは狂気を装う時、わざと高い声で話していました。喉を痛めないかと心配になるほど（余計な心配ですね…）、その声で話す場面が多いことに驚きました。ハムレットにとって、戯曲『ハムレット』の世界は、狂気を装ったり演技をしたりと、素の自分でいられる時間が少ない息苦しいものなのだと気付かされました。
独白の時と、ホレイショーと話す時は普通の話し方でした。それから、墓掘りに話しかける時も、普通の話し方でした。墓掘りに対してハムレットが素の自分を見せられるのは、親密な相手だからではなく、元々違う立場の人間だからこそ、脅威ではないと判断し、心を開いているのかもしれないと思いました。原文では"thou"を用いて話していることと関係があるのかもしれない、とも思いました。
原文にあたった上で今回の上演をとらえると、登場人物の心情などが浮き彫りになるように思い、興味深い観劇体験ができました。

On 18 May 2024, I saw and heard Hamlet Q1 at Parco Theater in Tokyo. As the title shows, it is a production based on Q1 of William Shakespeare's Hamlet.
I liked Hamlet, played by Yoh Yoshida, a female actor. I had seen her play a female role who disguised as a man, which was impressive, so I thought she would be good at playing a male role too, and it was so indeed.
When pretending to be mad, Hamlet spoke in unnaturally high-pitched voice. I was surprised to know how often he spoke in this way. Then I realised that Hamlet couldn't live as he was because he had to pretend or act so often.
He spoke in a natural way in soliloquies and conversations with Horatio. Also, he did so when he spoke to a gravedigger. Unlike Horatio, the gravedigger was not close to Hamlet, so I wondered why at first. Now I think, because of the class difference, the gravedigger was not a threat to Hamlet, so Hamlet didn't have to pretend or act to the gravedigger. I assumed so because Hamlet used "thou" when he spoke with the gravedigger in the script in English (this production was in Japanese, though).
This production taught me that lines in the script, an actor's acting, and a character's feelings were closely connected.
